Scholz and Putin to talk on Friday – Bloomberg
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will speak on the phone with Kremlin ruler Vladimir Putin on Friday, 15 October.
As reported by Bloomberg, the call will be Scholz's first direct communication with Putin in nearly two years.
In October, the media first reported about Scholz's preparedness to negotiate with the Kremlin leader.
Then it was reported that a phone chat on the eve of the G20 meeting in Brazil in November was under consideration.
Scholz later stated that he was ready to speak with Russia's Putin "soon."
The Kremlin indicated that Putin was willing to speak with Scholz, but the Russian side received no proposals from Berlin.
Scholz and Putin's last phone call was in December 2022.
Thus, the German Chancellor will be the first head of government from a country that strongly supports Ukraine, restoring direct contact with Putin.
