Scholz plans to talk with Zelenskyy following his call with Putin
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is set to speak with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after his recent phone call with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Steffen Hebestreit, spokesperson for the German federal government, noted that Scholz had already spoken with Zelenskyy earlier this week and intends to follow up with another conversation.
"The federal chancellor recently held a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and will do so again following his talks with Vladimir Putin."
During the call with Putin, Scholz condemned Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and insisted that Moscow must be ready to negotiate and withdraw its forces.
On 13 November, Scholz and Zelenskyy discussed German support for Ukraine, particularly in air defence systems. The German Chancellor confirmed that the sixth IRIS-T air defence system will be delivered to Ukraine by the end of the year.
