Denmark allocates a million kroner for Ukraine's defence capabilities
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has announced that her government will allocate DKK 1 billion (approximately US$96 million) to strengthen Ukraine’s defence industry.
As reported by DR, Frederiksen is on a visit to Ukraine on 19 November.
On the same day, she announced during a press conference with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that DKK 1 billion (approximately $96 million) would be allocated to Ukraine’s defence industry.
"We can only have peace in Europe if we can defend ourselves," she said.
The public broadcaster revealed that Frederiksen also urged other European countries to follow Denmark’s example and donate more money to Ukraine.
Journalists noted that the funds will come from Denmark's Fund for Ukraine and will be directed towards producing Ukrainian weaponry.
In June, Ukraine and Denmark signed a memorandum on the Northern European country's purchase of weapons and equipment from Ukrainian manufacturers. Denmark became the first country to take such a step.
Recently, Ukraine's Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Strategic Industries have signed a series of implementation agreements with Denmark's Ministry of Defence totalling around €535 million.
