Ukraine's foreign minister holds first conversation with Icelandic counterpart
Ukraine’s Foreign Affairs Minister Andrii Sybiha held his first phone call with Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, the newly-appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iceland, on 31 December.
Sybiha said that he spoke about the situation on the front lines, Russia's air terror, and Ukraine's priority defence and energy needs during the "warm first call" with his Icelandic counterpart.
"Grateful to Iceland and all of its people for sincerely supporting Ukraine," Sybiha said on X (Twitter).

Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, the leader of Iceland's Reform Party, became the country's Foreign Affairs Minister on 21 December after the formation of the new government.
Earlier this year, the Icelandic Parliament adopted a resolution supporting Ukraine long-term, from 2024 to 2028. Additionally, Reykjavík signed a security agreement with Kyiv.
