UK foreign secretary says Russia's presence is evident in multiple global conflicts
UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy has stated that Russia's involvement can currently be observed in many ongoing wars around the world.
As reported by Reuters, Lammy said that Russia’s presence is evident in many of the wars currently unfolding around the world. In this context, he urged NATO allies to "get serious" over defence spending.
"And as we look across the world with war here on our continent in Europe, with the tremendous aggression that we are seeing across the Middle East with the hand of Iran so present in the Middle East and with this rising conflict in Sudan and now in Syria, there is one country with its hand in so much of it, and that is Russia," he stressed.
Recently, the UK government warned that Russia is prepared to launch a "wave of cyberattacks" against the country and could "turn the lights off for millions of people".
Reportedly, Sweden and Norway are abandoning plans to implement fully cashless systems due to concerns that it would leave them vulnerable to security threats from Russia.
On 3 December, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte warned US President-elect Donald Trump about the "dire threat" posed by China, Iran, and North Korea if Ukraine is pressured into signing a peace deal on terms favourable to Russia.
