Ukraine prepares meeting of countries to develop joint position on ending war – Ukrainian President's Office
Ukraine is currently forming a list of partners to join a working group aimed at strengthening its defence and shaping a unified position on diplomatically ending the war.
As reported by European Pravda's correspondent, president’s spokesperson Serhii Nykyforov revealed in comment to journalists that Kyiv is now bringing together key European partners who, along with the United States, "can provide the maximum strengthening of our country".
"The final list of participants is still being finalised, but these are countries with long-range capabilities, countries making significant investments in Ukrainian weapons production and countries pivotal to Ukraine’s future in NATO," he said.
The spokesperson announced that Ukraine plans to hold a meeting of these countries in December "to coordinate and develop a unified position" to ensure Ukraine's strength "in any scenario – both at the negotiation table and on the battlefield".
The creation of the group was discussed during a joint press conference held by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Friedrich Merz, the leader of Germany’s opposition, who visited Kyiv on 9 December.
Merz proposed establishing a contact group comprising Germany, France, Poland and the United Kingdom to exchange ideas on ending the war in Ukraine and "develop a joint vision alongside the United States".
Zelenskyy responded that Ukraine is already organizing such a group and, in addition to the mentioned countries, hopes for Denmark’s participation, with the first meeting planned for December.
The president previously stated that Ukraine requires a just and strong peace that Russians cannot dismantle in a few years, as they have done before.
