Lithuania to send 4,500 drones to Ukraine

Monday, 13 January 2025

Lithuania will hand over 4,500 drones worth €5 million to Ukraine this week.

"I am proud to share that Lithuania is sending 4,500 drones worth 5 million euros to Ukraine this week," Lithuanian Defence Minister Dovilė Šakalienė wrote on X (Twitter).

The defence minister noted that the latest government meeting had approved an accelerated process for transferring state property, reducing bureaucratic delays in providing aid to Ukraine.

Media reports have recently indicated that drones destined for Ukraine had been stuck in Lithuanian warehouses due to red tape.

At the end of 2024, nearly the entire newly formed Lithuanian government visited Kyiv.

In late November, Lithuania handed over a new batch of military aid to Ukraine, which contained generators, spare parts for M113 armoured personnel carriers, weapons and ammunition.
