Czechia sees record cyber incidents in 2024, mostly from Russian-speaking hackers
Czechia saw a record number of cyber incidents in 2024, with DDoS attacks being the most prevalent. The majority of these attacks were attributed to Russian-speaking hacker groups.
Radio Prague International, citing the Czech National Cyber and Information Security Agency, reported that 268 cyber incidents were recorded in 2024, an increase of six compared to 2023. The majority of these attacks focused on disrupting system availability, mainly through DDoS attacks.
"Most of these attacks are attributed to Russian-speaking hacker groups, a trend that has become more prominent since Russia's invasion of Ukraine," said the agency's director, Lukáš Kintr.
The UK has reported a rise in hostile cyber activity over the past year.
In Poland, authorities stated that Russia is "no longer concealing its blatant cyberwar" against the country.
In early December, several Lithuanian government websites were taken offline following a cyberattack.
