Ukraine's foreign minister says 80% of shells pledged in Czech initiative have been delivered

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has stated that 80% of the ammunition pledged in a Czech initiative has been delivered to Ukraine. He expressed gratitude to Czechia for this initiative, which he said has proven to be very useful.

"Nearly 80% of the promised supplies have been delivered to Ukraine. The Czech side fulfilled its commitment by the end of 2024, providing 520,000 155mm shells along with a significant quantity of other calibres. I have also been assured that all the promised shells of various calibres have been procured," Sybiha said in an interview with European Pravda.

Sybiha explained that the focus is now on finalising delivery to Ukraine.

"However, it’s important to note that procurement relies heavily on donor funding. Czechia is collecting contributions from our partners, and supporting this effort, as well as engaging with other countries, is a key task for Ukrainian diplomacy. Some countries made financial pledges but have yet to fulfil them," the minister emphasised.

Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský stated in a November interview with European Pravda that there is still a significant stockpile of manufactured ammunition worldwide which could potentially be purchased for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2025.

As reported earlier, the Czech initiative is capable of supplying the Armed Forces of Ukraine with 50,000 to 100,000 large-calibre shells per month.
