Speaker of Lithuanian parliament arrives in Kyiv
Saulius Skvernelis, speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas, has arrived in Kyiv to discuss further support for Ukraine with Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament).
As reported by Stefanchuk on Facebook, Saulius Skvernelis arrived in Kyiv on Monday, 20 January. During their meeting, Stefanchuk and Skvernelis discussed continued interparliamentary cooperation and Lithuania's support for Ukraine’s Peace Formula and Victory Plan.
Skvernelis assured Stefanchuk that Lithuania remains a crucial partner in Ukraine's fight for sovereignty and independence, and that it will continue to provide 0.25% of its GDP to Ukraine.
A number of top foreign officials have visited Kyiv recently, including UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, and the Estonian, Dutch and Slovenian foreign ministers – Margus Tsahkna, Kaspar Veldkamp and Tanja Fajon.
During his visit, Starmer announced military aid for Ukraine and signed a historic agreement with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on a century-long partnership.
Veldkamp announced €27 million in aid for Ukraine during his visit to Kyiv.
