In 2025, the European Union will continue to financially support Ukraine through the proceeds of frozen Russian assets and the Ukraine Facility plan.

As a correspondent of European Pravda reports, Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis said that the plan to finance Ukraine under the ERA [at the expense of proceeds from frozen assets – ed.] is to "continue [to provide] €1 billion monthly, and then in December – €6 billion to cover the beginning of 2026".

"Under the Ukraine Facility, we plan to disburse the next €4.5 billion tranche in April, but this also depends on certain conditions being met," he added.

In 2024, the G7 agreed to jointly provide Ukraine with a US$50 billion loan insured with Russian assets: the funds will be provided formally as a loan but will be repaid from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets.

The EU is to transfer a total of €18.1 billion under this mechanism. Earlier on Thursday 20 March the European Commission transferred an additional €1 billion tranche to Ukraine.

The Ukraine Facility programme, which came into force on 1 March 2024, provides up to €50 billion in stable funding in the form of grants and loans to support the recovery, reconstruction and modernisation of Ukraine for the period from 2024 to 2027.
