Trump says this war with Russia's against Ukraine is "not his"

US President Donald Trump has stated that his predecessor, Joe Biden, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy "did an absolutely horrible job in allowing this travesty to begin".

Trump said on his social media platform Truth Social that "the war between Russia and Ukraine is Biden’s war, not mine", and he "had no problem in preventing it from happening" during his first presidential term.

"President Zelenskyy and Crooked Joe Biden did an absolutely horrible job in allowing this travesty to begin. There were so many ways of preventing it from ever starting. But that is the past. Now we have to get it to STOP, AND FAST. SO SAD!" he wrote.

In his post, Trump also claims he is "working diligently to get the death and destruction to stop".

These comments from Trump came the day after Russia launched two ballistic missiles on the centre of Sumy, killing at least 35 civilians.

Trump had previously described the strike as "terrible", but added, "I was told they made a mistake".

Zelenskyy urged Trump to visit Ukraine to better understand the destruction caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
