On December 5, residents of Chisinau began to complain about power outages following Russian strikes on Ukraine. Residents of the left bank of the river Dniester say they would soon face a blackout. The authorities have not yet announced any outages.
Moldova had already suffered blackouts caused by Russia's mass attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure on November 23 and November 15. Thousands of consumers were left without power. Some of them were reconnected only the next day. Mobile operators Moldcell, Orange, and Moldtelecom were partially or completely unavailable.
A similar incident occurred on the morning of 31 October: fragments of a missile shot down by the Ukrainian anti-aircraft system fell on the territory of Moldova after a drone attack on the Dnister dam on Ukrainian territory, 1 km from the dam in the village of Naslavcea. In response, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry announced the expulsion of one Russian diplomat after the incident; in response, Russia expelled one Moldovan diplomat.
During the Russian attack on Ukraine on 10 October, at least three missiles flew over the territory of Moldova; given this fact, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador.
