Moldova's MFA Summoned Russian Ambassador over Medvedev's Words That "Country Does Not Exist"
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova summoned the Russian ambassador, Oleg Vasnetsov, over unacceptable statements made by Russian officials regarding Moldova.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration will not comment on the absolutely unacceptable language of the statements made today by some Russian officials, but we would like to point out that the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova, Oleg Vasnetsov, will be summoned to the ministry to be asked for explanations on the statements concerning our country," stated the ministry.
On Friday, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, commenting on the statement by the Prime Minister of Moldova, Dorin Recean, about the ban on entry for Russian President Vladimir Putin, said that "there is no such country anymore," since "it was sold to Romania."
The Press Secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, commenting on Medvedev's statement, said that he sees "a drift towards absorption by Romania" and "a conscious restriction of its own sovereignty."
Earlier, the Prime Minister of Moldova, Recean, announced a "blacklist" of Russians (Ukr) who were banned from entering the country. It includes Russian President Vladimir Putin, businessman Igor Chaika, and singer Philipp Kirkorov.
The list has not yet been published, but the Moldovan Prime Minister noted that it could be made available to the public.
