Two other countries, Lithuania and Poland, have joined Ukraine in its unusual complaint against Russia at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) regarding political assassinations of Kremlin opponents.

Marharyta Sokorenko, Ukraine's authorised representative to the ECHR, shared in an interview with European Pravda that the complaint was filed by Ukraine against Russia in 2021. Ukraine accused Russia of a systematic practice of politically motivated killings of Kremlin opponents in the country and abroad, seen as a groundbreaking legal action by the expert community.

Sokorenko stated that the case is still ongoing before the court, even though the ECHR has prioritised other cases over it.

"The Republic of Poland and Lithuania joined Ukraine's complaint after that, also raising similar accusations against Russia," said Sokorenko.

European Pravda extensively covered this complaint in the article "Not only Navalny: How Ukraine seeks to hold Russia accountable for political assassinations worldwide."

Sokorenko also mentioend in the interview Ukraine's expectations from the new hearings on the Crimea case and its significance for other cases.
