Luxembourg has announced that it will join Czechia's initiative to purchase 800,000 artillery shells for Ukraine.

"This will be part of our overall effort to provide much needed capabilities to Ukraine in their fight against the Russian aggressor," Yuriko Backes, Minister of Defence of Luxembourg, said.

The day before, Czech President Petr Pavel confirmed that Ukraine's allies had transferred the entire amount of money needed to provide the country with 800,000 artillery shells.

He predicted that the ammunition should arrive in Ukraine "in the coming weeks".
